Welcome to third grade.  Third grade is a transition year from primary to intermediate level.  Two high points in this busy year are learning the multiplication facts and cursive writing.  Some goals for the students include increased responsibility, effective organization, and the development of study skills.

Parents, it is very important that your children memorize their addition, subtraction, and multiplication tables.  Their future progress in math relies on how well they learn their math facts now. Your children WILL need help with this.  I suggest getting flashcards and drilling a few minutes each evening. They will be expected to have certain facts memorized each week.  As I have done all year, I will send home these facts each Friday in the Math section of the notebook.
